You have made it all the way here, so you may as well sit down, take a minute to look around, and enjoy. What you will find, depends on the day and my mood. You just never can tell.

Shadow Dancer

Waa Hoo.  Got home from work today to find a nice big box waiting for me on my door step.  I opened it up and found to my wonderful excitement, the final print version of my book, Shadow Dancer.  It is absolutely beautiful.  It just is.  I am so excited.  I have three copies being donated to the libraries I frequent, as well as one for each of my girls and myself.  My publisher even sent me a big proof copy of the cover.  I think I will have it matted and framed.  Is that silly?  Maybe, but I will be doing it anyway.

Only three more days left to take part in the http://luxuryreading.com/shadowdancer/ contest.  You know you want to read my book, so why not go over and enter to win a FREE ebook.  Its easy.  Just post a comment.  You can do it!

I am working on revising my current WIP.  I hate revising.  It takes too long and too much concentrated brain effort.  I just want to write more stories.  In fact, book two in the Shadow Dancer series is calling my name and wont leave me alone.  I had to get up in the middle of the night and make notes on it.  That's just so sad.

So the talk today was why do I not use an agent.  Truthfully?  I tried to find an agent.  I couldn't get a single one to reply to my submissions or queries.  I find that extremely rude.  However, from what I am hearing and reading, that is the new trend.  If they are interested they will get back with you.  If they aren't, you don't even rate enough on their todo list to get a rejection.  It may be the trend, but I still find it wrong.  I know that not all agents work that way and I am extremely grateful for them.  It's just a shame to me that so many now do.

What are your thoughts on agents?  Do you use them?  Why or why not?  What do you think of the new non-response trend?

  1. Oh wow... seeing your book like that. Drooltastic. Crazy exciting. Good idea on the library donations (I'm taking notes). Your girls must be quite impressed.

Yeah, you feel like a bit of a peon the way the writing business works. I know they are really busy, but sheesh. It sounds like too much of a pain in the butt. I'll try and go it alone. One day!

Mega congrats and, no, I don't think you are that silly. *teehee*

  2. Oh, I'd frame the cover. Definitely. :-)

As for agents, if I ever publish a book...I'd want one as I'm not sure I could function enough without one. HOWEVER, I think it's what works best for authors...

The no reply thing? I don't like that either. I think certain ones state they will reply regardless and that's great. Who knows though? Maybe something will happen in the future and you'll get one!!
